Here are some things you need to know before landing in the Eternal City: Rome is a big city with about 8 million habitants, but most of the touristic centers are located in one area and that is the city center and the Centro Storico (historical center), the walled area; ruins and parts of the wall and the gates that led to Rome are seen around the city nowadays (this is the origin of the famous saying “all roads lead to Rome”).
Below is a list of our recommended hotels in Rome (as well as apartments and guest houses), according to your popular search categories:
Termini
This is the area of the central station in Rome: you can reach any area of the city from here via buses, the various metro lines and trains that drive to the suburbs as well as to all parts of Italy. The area is full of hotels but naturally also with immigrants and homeless people. It is highly not recommended to walk around the station area at night, and certainly not alone. The area is suitable for those who like to get around by public transport and walk less. It’s also suitable for those who plan a quick visit to the city and continue to other destinations in Italy in the early morning or late in the day. From there you can walk to Piazza della Repubblica, the National Roman Museum, the Monti neighborhood (that starts at the station), and to the famous Vittorio Emanuele market where the locals buy fresh ingredients for their Italian dishes.
